They are going to sell every single one of these that they can screw together, and the resale value will be BONKERS.

You got that right. I want one now even though I can’t justify it.
Might be a good time to buy some FCA stock.

I read a lot of complaints on the internet about the proportions looking off.
Looks fine to me. Or does it look weird only with all the doors off?

Didn’t the regular Wrangler just flunked a crash test badly? Not really sure if the bed would make things worse.

“driver assist systems hurt the score”
I'm okay with that besides my DD 2010 crown Vic P71 is far more likely to kill me.

The European test, mostly for a lack of nannies and pedestrian protections. It’s not going to be any worse than prior generations.

I wish these were $5-10K cheaper. I’d buy it to tow my boat.

Yeah, how many US vehicles (especially trucks) really protect pedestrians well, anyway? Most of the suburban US has virtually zero pedestrians to begin with. And I’m not driving this in downtown Paris.
Paris, Texas.

I don’t know about that.
Those weld issues are no bueno. The new Wrangler got a 1 star on the Euro crash test with good welds. I can’t imagine what would happen with bad ones.....
I’m surprised the NHTSA not IIHS have tested the car in the US yet!

They’ve always had crappy crash ratings. N obody cares, they still sell extremely well . The side impact ratings are particularly bad, due to the removable doors.

The google said expected pricing $30-31k for base; which seems on par with their other four doors. If it was $20-25k I’d be in.

There are so many things I want, but can’t justify. Like a Bobcat. I really want a skid steer loader, instead of a measly snow blower.

Nobody pays attention to logic when it comes to Jeeps. If any of it was logical, they’d sell may 10k Jeeps a year. Look how many of them never leave the pavement. Regular Wranglers have almost as good resale value as Tacomas. A Wrangler pickup will make people go crazy. They’re going to print money with this thing.
I wouldn’t touch one with a 10' pole myself.

Yeah, me too. My neighbor has one of those little compact stand on skid steer loaders. I am insanely jealous of him.

Meh, the 1 star was pretty much because if you hit a person, they get hurt. Also, no lane keep assist and auto braking. The actual crash tests looked pretty good.

Take the 4x4 truck resale add Wrangle resale
Yup they will not depreciate
I do wonder if they’ll actually outsell JLUs.

It’s safe to assume they’ll be a good 3k more than the regular 4 door JLU. So base price could be 36k for a Manual Sport. That’s crew cab half ton money.

I’ve seen some pics that looked off but in person I don’t see it. I liked it alot and I was one of those people that was bummed it wasn’t a 2 door.
I shocked myself on how much I liked it.

Yeah, if they actually succeed in certifying the diesel with the EPA, you can add diesel resale value. It will be like driving around cash money.

Oh I totally agree, just was questioning if I had missed FCA’s release of pricing info. I’m betting that there is at least a 4k premium. This thing has a ton more steel than the JKU.

It’s true. A guy I used to work with bought one of the 4-door Wranglers when they were first coming out. He and his kids loved the open-top in the summer. He loved that it was Real Jeep that he could take his family in. Then one day he read about the crash test results of these things, as compared to just about any other mid-sized SUV he could have considered. I kid you not, he traded it in for an xterra within the week. He was a bit impulsive, I might add. But he was like, “once I knew about that I couldn’t keep driving my kids around in it.”
Dude, why didn’t you look into that before buying one? Probably because it was cool. It’s a Jeep, man!

Well, kudos to him for acting upon that. That’s why I sold my Roadmaster. Once that rust hole opened in the base of the B-pillar, I could not in good conscience keep driving my kids around in that. (I still regret selling it, should’ve kept it for myself to play with)
There is a weird perception out there, Tom wrote about it on the FP somewhat recently, that because Jeeps are “tough,” that they’re also “safe.” Which, as we know, couldn’t be farther from the truth.
